Wa no Kashi Meguri
Vegan
Wa no Kashi Meguri is a boutique vegan and gluten free Japanese sweets shop in Yoyogi Uehara, opened in April 2016 by Noriko Kuroiwa. Every item is free of eggs, dairy, wheat, buckwheat, additives, and animal products. The sole sweetener is organic agave syrup. The signature fukumeguri is a grain filled daifuku made with pesticide free mochi rice, black soybeans, organic black quinoa, and activated charcoal, filled with agave sweetened adzuki paste. Other offerings rotate every two to three weeks and include beet colored strawberry daifuku, vegan dorayaki, kuzu pudding in black and white sesame, and seasonal neri kiri. Kuroiwa came to the craft after her husband's death from cancer led her to study macrobiotics.
