Tsukemen Zuppa is a tiny, fully plant based noodle shop near Suidobashi Station, a one minute walk from the west exit and close to Tokyo Dome. Open since September 2022, it's a solo operation run by owner chef Higashide, who previously worked in Italian restaurants. The entire menu is built on vegetable only broth with no meat or fish. The format is classic Tokyo counter dining: seven seats, a ticket vending machine at the entrance, and the chef preparing everything in front of you.

The signature dish is tsukemen (cold dipping noodles in concentrated hot broth), but the menu also covers soy milk tantanmen, soy meat miso ramen, soy meat shoyu ramen, and seasonal specials. Noodles are whole wheat with a firm, chewy texture. Vegetarians can add a boiled egg and oeuf mayo on the side; request without for a fully vegan meal. Five pungent root free versions are available on request for oriental vegans.

Good to Know:

  • The soy milk tantanmen is the dish that generates the most repeat visits. Creamy soy milk broth with a chili kick, topped with herb salad, bok choy, and soy meat. Around ¥900 to ¥1,000.
  • Tsukemen is ¥980. Most bowls fall between ¥900 and ¥1,000, making this one of the cheapest quality vegan meals in Tokyo.
  • Side dishes include a vegetable plate with fried tapioca (¥380) and seasonal additions. Alcohol is available, including highballs and Heartland beer.
  • The vending machine is cash only (Japanese yen notes and coins). No card payment.
  • Seven counter seats means waits are common, especially during Tokyo Dome events. Mid afternoon is usually the calmest window. The shop runs continuously without a lunch break, which is unusual for the area.
  • The chef speaks some English, is known for being welcoming, and will explain the menu and ordering process. Presentation has an Italian influenced attention to detail.
  • Open Tuesday through Sunday, roughly 11:00 to 23:00. Closed on irregular rest days. Worth checking beforehand.
