Ain Soph. Journey Shinjuku
Ain Soph. Journey is the second location of the Ain Soph. vegan restaurant group, situated in the Shinjuku Sanchome area. The entire menu is 100% plant based, free of meat, fish, dairy, eggs, and honey. The interior is bright white with antique chairs, hanging plants, and natural light, creating a calm pocket within the density of Shinjuku. This is the branch where the Heavenly Vegan Pancakes were born, and they remain the most ordered item: thick, fluffy, souffle style pancakes served with seasonal fruit, soy ice cream, and soy whipped cream. The savory menu leans international, with dishes like taco rice, Thai green curry, vegetable paella, hayashi rice, and mushroom ajillo, alongside brown rice plate sets. Gluten free and five pungent vegetable free options are available. About 90% of customers order the course meal format.
Good to Know:
- The Heavenly Vegan Pancakes are the signature. Seasonal variations rotate, including matcha versions. They are also available at the Kyoto branch but not at every Ain Soph. location.
- Savory highlights include the taco rice (a vegan take on the Okinawan fusion classic), green curry, and soup lunch sets.
- Course meals are the most popular format, with lunch and dinner options at various price points. Birthday and anniversary surprise dessert courses can be arranged with advance reservation.
- Reservations are recommended and can be made through the Ain Soph. website. The space is small and can fill up, especially on weekends.
- Beer, wine, and other drinks are available.
- The entrance can be tricky to find. The restaurant is on an upper floor of a multi use building, accessed via stairs. Not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Look for a small sign at street level.
- Directly in front of Shinjuku Sanchome Station Exit C5 (Toei Shinjuku Line, Marunouchi Line, Fukutoshin Line). About an eight minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station central east exit.
- Also available on Uber Eats for delivery.
- Part of the Ain Soph. group, which includes Ginza (the flagship, with bento and patisserie), Soar (Ikebukuro), and a Kyoto location. Each branch has a different menu and theme.
